At the forefront of the Q-Fest Film Festival is our mission to provide a meaningful and well-curated film festival experience for all attendees. To do that, the Q-Fest Cohort looks to New Queer Cinema as a guide post. New Queer Cinema can be boundary pushing and perspective challenging in a lot of ways, and sometimes that means showing intense scenes with difficult themes. In the purpose of showing art in its entirety and understanding a film outside of the screen, Q-Fest doesn’t stray away from showing films that can be difficult to watch. We strive to provide an experience worthwhile for all attendees, so we’ve provided a list of themes to help attendees navigate difficult themes and make decisions for their own wellbeing.
With that, this list will never be perfect. Everyone is different and how a film reaches someone is unique. We encourage attendees to make the best decisions for themselves and if they need to leave the theatre at any time for whatever reason, we welcome and understand it.
