In this film that was very nearly scrapped when the Indian Army refused cooperation, Karun is a border guard appointed to a new checkpoint outside the tiny town of Gurez, home to college student Faheem. Though both are closeted, an immediate attraction sparks when Faheem flirtatiously hands Karun an apple as he makes his daily journey through the checkpoint. Their burgeoning relationship faces numerous hurdles, from religious differences to political unrest as tensions flare between the military and the citizens of Gurez. Both men must wrestle with not only external pressures but their own internal convictions in this poignant and heart-wrenching drama.
