Short: The Robbers

Three trans women meet in a country house to plan a robbery. In their scheming process, they decide to disguise themselves as men. In this process, they practice speaking in a deep voice, walking manly and behaving in a masculine manner- each reaching their emotional and physical limits.

Trans femmes planning a heist? Hot.

Yankee (played by director Michael Taylor Jackson) travels to Argentina in hopes of visiting an awe-inspiring pirate from his hometown in California. After a run-in with bad luck and being turned around in circles with a hypocritical and frustrating US Embassy, he joins a polyamorous relationship of actors and socio-political activists. From them and his role in their play, he learns more about himself, his newfound partners, and the corrupt institutions around them. Against a backdrop in Buenos Aires, this “genre-fluid” film is enchanting with a charming cast, fast-paced action, and creative (and often fantastical) twists.

This gorgeous, atmospheric, and witty film creates tension that will have you on the edge of your seat and heartfelt moments that will have you feeling for the genuine characters! I’ve never seen a film like this and probably never will again”
— Lee Rutzinski
