Meet Makayla! Makayla is a third-year student studying psychology and sociology with a Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies certificate. While she has been at UWEC (University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire) she has grown to be passionate about activism for black and brown students as well as Queer black and brown students on campus. During her time, she has been heavily involved with Multicultural Student Services by being an intern as well as recently becoming a GSRC intern to help connect Black and Brown students and LGBTQ+ students on issues containing intersectional thoughts and ideas. When she is not advocating for the student body, you can find her in her room playing on her Nintendo Switch with her cozy games or creating a new project with her hobbies of crocheting and sewing clothes, all while her cat Oliver watches her lovingly. Makayla intends to go to graduate school to get her master's and PhD in Psychology and hopefully pursue a career in forensic psychology or social psychology. She looks forwards to seeing various parts of the big city life as well as visiting the different pride parades! She also looks forward to going shopping in the various parts of San Francisco.
