I Probably Have Bad Taste
Last night a few of us saw the film Rotting in the Sun and I really liked it. I think it was just weird enough to be really good and was still super tasteful, I think. It was a really funny critique of modern culture with social media sensationalization and a lack of empathy that comes with basing your own worth and the worth of others on a social status the is emphasized and highlighted by the character Jordan, and the imperialization and self-serving nature of capitalism as seen through Vero and Mateo.
I recognize that this was not a popular film among my fellow q-festers, but I really liked it a lot. I think the story had a captivating and engaging plot with developed characters that were expertly explored with just some really good writing. I was going to say that the early-middle chunk at the nude beach is a little uncomfortable with just the sheer amount of nudity but honestly not that bad and also my perspective is definitely shaped by my Midwest American perspective.
I think this film is just absurd and campy and I love it. I definitely want to get a screener for it because I want to watch it with the cohort, but I don’t know if it’s for Qfest.
