3 PM | Shorts Package: QTPOC Stories

Grace (13 min): We are thrown back in time for the story of Grace, set in the 1950s South. She has romantic feelings for her friend, but all is reconsidered when she learns that she must be baptized and repent before being cleansed.

Kai Hali’a (Sea of Memory) (9 min): Join a local Kānaka (Hawaiian) reconnecting with oneself through the ocean and land, while also connecting back to themselves beside their family and partner.

Halfway (9 min): During a rocky relationship, anything can happen when meeting up for the last time. But how did we get so lost, wanna meet halfway?

The Birth of Naikee (20 min): We follow the story of Naikee, who is a black transwoman activist as we go on a quest to find identity. During the film, there is a longing question about the heteronormative society we live in and how exactly you make yourself fit.

Wouldn’t Make it Any Other Way (20 min): This one is for the crafters! Join an inspiring costume designer on their journey to their homeland in Guam where they set their heart on making costumes for the children’s theatre while navigating reconnecting with their parents.

Here’s a way to show up and celebrate black, brown, and all things queer!! If you aren’t there we will know by instinct alone!
