7 PM | Closing Night: Young Hearts

Within the Belgian countryside, 14-year-old Elias falls in love with a fresh faced, new neighbor, Alex. The two boys experience queer love without any (societal) repercussions, but even so Elias has his fears about coming out. The story gives queer love a beautiful lens to show young love without restraint. Elias tries to find his way around relationships like any other kid his age, by doing what others around him are doing, which in his case means having a girlfriend. After realizing that girls aren’t what makes him happiest, he struggles his way around telling people about his feelings and being ready to admit it to himself. He tries to hide his love, but in the end in brilliantly shines through.

All the melodrama and freshness of being 12, with the careful craft of a well-polished story.
