11 AM | Asog

Jaya, a comedian fed up with their job as a teacher, and their former student, Arnel, must traverse across the Philippines to make it to a drag pageant in Sicogon. However, after the events of Super Typhoon Haiyan, the road to Sicogon is anything but smooth. Equal parts road trip comedy and docu-fiction, Asog is a one of a kind experience that leaves you simultaneously entertained and educated. Although the events of the film are fictional (and hilarious), the effects of Super Typhoon Haiyan are not, as the film also explores the impacts of not only the typhoon, but colonization as well.

This movie is so colorful and fun and silly, but it also has a lot of important things to say about colonization and environmental protection
